St. Joseph
Patron of fathers, workers, the universal Church, a happy death
Saint Joseph, the chaste spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus Christ, was a carpenter of Nazareth descended from the royal house of David. The Gospels reveal him as a "just man" (Matthew 1:19), silent in word but resolute in action, whose obedience to the angel's commands preserved the life of the Christ Child during the flight into Egypt and the return to Nazareth.
