St. Thérèse of Lisieux
1873 – 1897
Patron of missions, florists, aviators, the sick
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (1873–1897), known to the Church as the Little Flower of Jesus, was born Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin in Alençon, France, the youngest of the nine children of Louis and Zélie Martin — both of whom would themselves be canonized in 2015. Her mother died when she was four, and the family moved to Lisieux, where her sisters one by one entered the Carmel.
