St. Vincent of Saragossa
d. 304
Patron of winemakers, deacons, Lisbon
Saint Vincent of Saragossa (died 304) was a deacon of the Church in Saragossa, in Spain, during the last great Roman persecution under the Emperor Diocletian. His bishop, Valerius, had a speech impediment, so Vincent preached on his behalf, as deacons in the early Church often served as the bishop's voice and hands.
