St. Blaise
Patron of throat ailments, wool combers, veterinarians
Saint Blaise (died c. 316) was bishop of Sebaste in Armenia at the close of the great persecutions, and is venerated as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers of the Church. The ancient Acts describe him as a physician before his episcopal ordination, beloved for his charity and learning, who governed his flock with apostolic zeal during the brief but ferocious persecution of Licinius in the eastern empire.
